English Football

I am particularly pleased with English football this year, mostly because Liverpool won. But how many young talents are emerging not only on Merseyside? We have moaned about having too many foreign players in the premiership, and constantly sold our youth talent to lower teams and divisions. Now however they seem to be emerging everywhere, and we’ve proved they are not only good on English soil but by winning youth international tournaments all over the place. I don’t know what happened when Bobby Moore and Geoff Hurst were when they were junior players, but if our current crop is as good as them, which I fervently believe, surely our truly golden generation has arrived. Hopefully if they don’t do stupid things, and carry on from the youth system they have been developed in, we’ll win a lot of things as a country and a league. Like David Beckham I hope they all have golden balls.
