The Arrow of Time

You just get older and older and it doesn’t stop. Nothing can stop time. It is inexorable. Possibly the most powerful thing in the universe. If it could be harnessed maybe we could gain control of time, and then what a weapon we would have. Batman would be well and truly foiled. Superman would not get a look-in. That would be a complicated idea for a comic book or a Sci-Fi novel. Stephen Hawking would have to be consulted. He would probably say time is an illusion or a force only those in our dimension could feel. Some physicists say the universe is a great big hologram. Some that time travel is impossible. Fiction writers might disagree, but for them anything is possible.

For most of us, time going onwards is normal, even though sometimes it seems time goes quicker and sometimes slower. The faster you go, the slower time travels. If time moved backwards though, there would be some considerable difficulties, notably in the toiletry habits of man. Even if time moved normally, but you became younger each day (as in Benjamin Button) things would be awkward. It is annoying that each day you come ever closer to death, but I think time is okay as it is.
